King’s Landing

It seems that Girona has replaced Dubrovnik as the capital of the Seven Kingdoms. In the sixth episode of this sixth season we can see Queen Margaery at the door of the Great Sept about to embark on the path of shame. The Great Sept is the Girona’s Cathedral and in the square of the cathedral is where Jaime Lannister and his army try to prevent Queen Margaery from making this way to the Red Fortress

For the filming they had to cover the statues to avoid religious connotations and to not be able to associate it with any specific time. The buildings in front of the cathedral were covered with a chroma and it looks like Girona has sea.
